The Argentinean soprano Virginia Tola has been claimed internationally in many opera houses as the Theatre dell’ Opera di Roma, Theatre Regio di Torino, Theatre Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Royal Theatre in Madrid, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia, Lyric Theatre di Cagliari, Maestranza Theatre in Seville, Royal Theatre of the Monnaie de Munt de Brussels, Bregenz Festival, Colon Theatre and much more.
Virginia finished her studies about singing in the High Institute of Art of Colon Theatre in Buenos Aires. She achieved the international attention when she established herself as winner of the first International Singing Contest Reina Sofia in Oslo, Norway, where the jury included great figures of the Lyric history as Birgit Nilsson, Christa Ludwig, Theo Adam, and Ingrid Bjoner. Her success in this competition leaded her to give a tour of concerts around several Scandinavian cities supported by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Oslo, and conducted by Marris Janssons, and Marcello Viotti.
Then, she was awarded in the International Contest “Operalia”, created and organized by Placido Domingo, winning three prizes: the “Audience Prize”, “Prize to La Zarzuela”, and the prize of the philanthropist “Lloyd Rigler”.
Subsequently, she made her debut in Colon Theatre starring the opera “ Hoffmann’s Tales”, where she performed the role of Antonia.

Since then, Virginia has been seen as Mimi in La Boheme, and in the operas of …and in the Festival of Bregenz; as Micaela in Carmen, in the Royal Theatre in Madrid, in the Lyric Theatre in Cagliari,in…
During 2005/2006 season, Virginia singed her first Margarita in Fausto of Gounod in Verdi Theatre in Trieste, to add later two new roles to her repertoire, personifying Luisa Millar in the Opera with the same name, to debut in The Royal Theatre of Wallonia, Liege, and performing Fiordiligi in Costi fan tutte, in her debut in the Royal Theatre of Monnaie of Munt in Brussels. She performed again this role in Colon Theatre in Buenos Aires.
In 2006/2007 season, Virginia made her debut with the role of Violeta Valery in the production of La Traviata that presented in the Royal Theatre of la Monnaie of Munt in Brussels. She also made her first presentations as Margarita Mefistofele version that she presented in Colon Theatre.
Through this last season, she has acted in a big tour of concerts over Europe, Asia, and America with Placido Domingo, with whom she has appeared from the beginning of her career in many opera and Zarzuela events, taking place in several cities in the world as Mexico DF, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Halle, Benidorm, Trondheim, Sonderborg, Taipei, Granada, Barcelona, Lisbon, San Antonio, Guadalajara, La Romana…and much more.

During this Season, Virginia has performed the production of” La Boheme”, presented by the National opera house Bordeaux, as Mimi. She performed this role again in the opera house of Los Angeles, just after finishing a recital tour across Denmark. Then, she has made her debut with two new roles: Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, and Contessa in “The marriage of Figaro” in Maestranza theatre, Seville. At the end of the season, Virginia offered two opera recitals and Zarzuela in Mexico.
Other performances lead Virginia to take the role Valencienne in “La Viuda Alegre” in the opera house in Los Angeles. She has been also Nedda in L Pagliacci in the argentinian theatre of La Plata, and Desdemona in Otello in Santa Fe.
Among her recordings are the plays “Don Rodrigo and Milena” by Alberto Ginastera, and the Triple Concerto by Luis Bacalov, registered by the company Delos International. |
