A genius of the dance as Juan Andrés Maya could not belong to another family than the Flamenco dynasty of the Maya. On stage he shows all his strength, art, courage, joy and in each movement.
Juan Andres Heredia Maya was born on January 6, 1972 in the heart of the gypsy district of Sacromonte. With a long history of artists in his family (he’s nephew of famous dancers as Manolete and Mario Maya and of renowned guitarist Juan Maya Marote), Juan Andres started dancing at the early age of three, performing in the Cueva de la Rocio, owned by his parents, where he soon became the main attraction for the visitors of this popular Flamenco Club in Granada.
At the age of 14 he joined the Cachado Flamenco Company in Cairo, Egypt, and ever since continued performing in numerous shows: first at the Neptuno hall in Granada, then at the Café de Chinitas in Madrid, together with La Chunga, and later on touring throughout Spain during the Cultural Weeks promoted by the Ministry of Culture.
At 18 he choreographed his first work "Passion”. Its big success Granada led him to perform in various theaters of the Community of Madrid.
In 1992, during the celebration of the Universal Exposition of Seville, he collaborated on a show with Miguel Bosé “Jóvenes valores del siglo XXI” (XXI Century Young values), which obtained an enormous success.

He took part to the "Amor Brujo", where he was starring the main role. After working at the Lincoln Center in New York and touring the Netherlands and Japan, in September 1996 Juan Andres Maya presented his new book "Raices” (Roots) sponsored by the Duchess of Alba.

After several performances in France and at the Cafe Chinitas in Madrid with “Furia Maya”, in 2002 he brought to the scene of the Teatro Nuevo Apolo in Madrid a new artwork "Homage to Carmen Amaya." of which he is choreographer, author and performer.
